Honoring the Fallen: TCHPD Pays Tribute on International Day of Remembrance for Fallen Police Officers
To commemorate the International Day of Remembrance for Fallen Police Officers, the Taichung Harbor Police Department (TCHPD) is displaying a solemn tribute on its main entrance electronic signage from 8:00 AM to 10:00 PM today. The message, presented in white text against a blue background in both Chinese and English, reads: “On this International Day of Remembrance for Fallen Police Officers, we pay our highest tribute to all fallen heroes. Your courage guarded our safety. Your sacrifice will be forever remembered.” This gesture serves as a profound expression of respect to police heroes worldwide and domestically who have laid down their lives in the line of duty.
Initiated by INTERPOL, the International Day of Remembrance honors police officers who have made the ultimate sacrifice while serving the public. This global observance is not only a time to remember the deceased but also a crucial reminder to society of the immense occupational risks and self-sacrifice involved in maintaining national security and public order. Through this annual commemoration, the international community reflects on the monumental contributions made by police officers to uphold justice and safeguard peace.
TCHPD hopes that through this public display, the community will gain a deeper understanding of and respect for the duties and sacrifices of the police. Behind the safety of every household is the quiet guardianship of countless officers serving in high-risk and unpredictable environments. By raising awareness of these professional risks, this event aims to strengthen the foundation of mutual trust between the police and the public, fostering a collaborative partnership to build a safer society.
TCHPD reaffirms its unwavering commitment to protecting the order and security of the Taichung Port area, carrying forward the heroic spirit of those who came before. To help the public learn more about these moving stories of bravery, TCHPD invites you to visit the "Police History Museum – Biographies of Heroic Police" section on the National Police Agency website (https://historical.npa.gov.tw/b-3.html) to browse the noble deeds of our fallen officers and ensure that their legacy of justice and courage lives on forever.
